Once the person drops from the current view or an alert reports a change, ask SMPSO whether the outcome was community release or transfer. Request the actual exit time, category, and receiving agency if one took custody. A Letter of Incarceration can help verify a date range, but a separate release or transfer entry is needed when the exact outcome matters.
The update stamp belongs to the live roster display. It does not establish how long a removed record remains available, how quickly each alert is delivered, or whether the system stores a public history. No local retention period was verified. Save the date and time of a lawful check, but rely on the Sheriff’s maintained record and the correct court minute for older events.
St. Martin State Release Notice
A Louisiana state prisoner requires an extra distinction. Local LAVNS or VINE registration is not the same as registration with DPS&C Louisiana Victim Outreach and the Crime Victim Services Bureau. DPS&C directs eligible participants to register in both places for state events. The state victim-registration instructions address projected and actual release notices through that separate state process.
Do not assume a parish-jail registration follows a person into state custody. If SMPSO says the person transferred to DPS&C, rematch the state record, keep the exact projected-date label, and use the state’s formal notice route when eligible.
