The parish owns and maintains the facility. The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office staffs and administers it.

St. Martin Mixed-Custody Releases
A December 2021 legislative table reported DOC, federal, pretrial, and parish categories at the parish center. That dated table is not a present headcount or proof of a current contract. Its value is narrower: people inside one local building can have different legal custodians and different release paths.
A pretrial federal detainee may be housed locally under USMS authority without appearing as a sentenced Bureau of Prisons prisoner. Start with the federal docket and the physical custodian. Use the BOP locator after commitment to BOP, not as a substitute for the parish jail record. If ICE assumes custody after a local detainer, describe the event as release from SMPSO and transfer to ICE. The ICE system then addresses immigration custody, not the original parish exit reason.

The active correctional center occupies the second floor of Sheriff headquarters, while St. Martin Parish Correctional Center II has a separate, dated history. A 2020 legislative table described Jail II as vacant. The Sheriff’s FY2024 audit later described an agreement allowing Louisiana State Police to occupy Jail II and a related substation. Neither source creates a second current public inmate roster.
This distinction prevents an old facility name from becoming a false custody lead. Someone seeking the adult parish jail should use the active correctional center’s booking and records channels. St. Martin Release Court Check
After obtaining the jail exit information, locate the court entry that explains its authority. St. Martin Parish district matters run through the 16th Judicial District Court, but its remote product excludes Breaux Bridge City Court, St. Martinville City Court, and Henderson Town Court.
