St. Martin Youth Release Paths
A youth may leave the Juvenile Training Center under a juvenile court order, move to another authorized placement, return to a parent or guardian under stated conditions, or remain subject to another lawful custody arrangement. The research does not publish a menu of local release types, a public youth roster, or a public release archive. Those gaps must not be filled with adult-jail assumptions.
The facility and juvenile court are the core confirmation channels. An entitled requester should ask whether the facility may confirm the named youth’s status, what proof of identity or authority is required, and which office controls any releasable order or custody record. Staff may limit what can be discussed. That limit protects confidential youth information and does not establish that the child was never held or was released.
Confirm St. Martin Youth Releases
The correct inquiry begins with the requester’s relationship to the youth. A person with no legal or authorized role should not expect access. A parent or guardian, attorney, authorized victim-services participant, or other entitled requester can contact the facility and follow the identity and authority checks provided by staff. If the release depends on a court order, the 16th Judicial District Court controls access to that proceeding and record.
- Call the Juvenile Training Center and explain the requester’s legal or authorized role without sharing protected details in an insecure channel.
- Ask what identification, representation document, court information, or consent is required before staff can discuss status.
- Follow the facility’s direction to the juvenile court when the requested fact comes from an order rather than a facility record.
- Keep any response within the authorized purpose and do not repost confidential information.
A negative answer from an adult system has no reliable meaning here. The adult St. Martin roster covers incarcerated offenders and should not be used to infer a youth’s release. The Louisiana DPS&C imprisoned-person locator is for the state correctional system, not a complete local juvenile case search. ICE’s public locator also excludes people under eighteen.
St. Martin Youth Release Contact
The official Louisiana DPS&C parish directory lists the youth facility and its direct contact numbers. It does not publish public counter hours or promise that staff can disclose a particular youth’s status by telephone. Call first, state the authorized relationship, and ask for the proper confidential procedure.

The DPS&C St. Martin Parish directory is the official source captured in the image below. It places the Juvenile Training Center separately from the adult correctional center.
The directory supports the facility’s identity and contact route. It is not a youth roster and shows no named release records.
Note: Published phone and fax numbers identify the facility, but staff still control whether an authorized status disclosure is lawful.
St. Martin Juvenile Release Records
Louisiana law treats juvenile information differently from ordinary adult booking material. La. R.S. 14:133.7 addresses confidential juvenile material as well as protected information after expungement or nondisclosure. General public-record definitions do not turn a confidential youth file into an open adult booking record. A records custodian may refuse public access, require proof of authority, redact details, or direct the request to the juvenile court.
An authorized request should be narrow. Identify the youth only through the secure process the office provides. State the requester’s relationship and the specific fact needed, such as confirmation of a court-ordered custody change. Do not seek medical details, treatment records, protected addresses, photographs, or unrelated case material. If part of a record can lawfully be disclosed, the custodian determines its form and any redaction.
The ordinary adult public-record request model does not override those limits. Louisiana R.S. 44:1 broadly defines public records, but access remains subject to constitutional and statutory exceptions. A request should therefore acknowledge that juvenile and sealed material may be withheld. An entitled person can ask the custodian to identify the lawful procedure and provide any segregable information that may be released. A member of the general public should not demand the same booking fields used for the adult correctional center.
A custody change may also involve more than one office. Facility staff can address the facility’s own custody episode within the requester’s authorization. A juvenile judge’s order comes from the court. A placement or service provider may hold a separate record governed by its own confidentiality rules. Match each question to the office that created the answer rather than asking one agency to interpret the whole case.
| Question | Proper channel |
|---|---|
| May the facility confirm status? | Juvenile Training Center after authority check |
| What order changed custody? | Juvenile court through restricted access |
| Can an authorized participant receive notice? | Assigned victim-services or case channel |
| Why is there no adult roster result? | No conclusion; youth coverage is restricted |
Adult Tools Exclude Youth Releases
St. Martin Parish’s active adult correctional center has booking lines, an incarcerated-offender roster, a Letter of Incarceration process, and adult public-record routes. None should be copied onto a youth page as though the same access rules apply. The research specifically directs entitled users to the Juvenile Training Center and juvenile court.
The distinction also applies after a no-result search. Misspelling, age restrictions, confidentiality, nonparticipation, and system scope can all keep a name out of a public tool. For an adult, staff may confirm whether a missing roster entry represents release or transfer. For a youth, the public should not be taught to work around protected access by checking cached records, third-party copies, or adult systems.
LAVNS and VINELink can provide custody notifications for participating agencies, but participation and the live selector must be confirmed. Even an authorized alert is not a certified release record. It may report a change by a contributing agency without explaining the court order, placement, or next custodian. For state-prison matters, DPS&C also distinguishes local LAVNS registration from its separate Louisiana Victim Outreach process. Those adult and state systems should not be generalized into a public youth-search promise.
The Louisiana State Police registry is equally narrow. It concerns people who have a legal registration duty and is not a general post-release database. It cannot establish that an ordinary youth left this facility. ICE’s locator states that records for people under eighteen do not appear, so its silence also proves nothing about a child’s status.
- Adult jail roster
- A present-custody list for the adult parish jail, not a youth release archive.
- Juvenile court record
- A restricted case record accessed only through the court’s lawful process.
- Authorized requester
- A person whose legal role allows the office to consider disclosing protected information.
- Transfer
- A move to another custodian or placement, not necessarily a community release.
Note: A no-result adult search cannot confirm or disprove a youth’s custody, transfer, or release status.
St. Martin Facility Names Differ
St. Martin Parish has one active adult correctional center, this separate youth-focused facility, and a historical property known as Jail II. The names matter. A search for “St. Martin jail” can easily send a family to the adult booking line even when the concern involves a child. The official parish directory prevents that mix-up by listing the Juvenile Training Center at its own address and number.
Historical facility material creates another risk. The adult jail sits on the second floor of Sheriff headquarters and has an official capacity of 186 beds. Jail II appeared vacant in a 2020 legislative table and under a Louisiana State Police occupancy agreement in the Sheriff’s FY2024 audit. Neither fact describes the Juvenile Training Center, and neither supports a current youth roster or release workflow.
The adult St. Martin Correctional Center page is appropriate only when the person was held in the active adult parish jail. Youth inquiries remain with the confidential facility and court channels.
St. Martin Juvenile Court Access
St. Martin Parish lies in the 16th Judicial District, which also covers Iberia and St. Mary Parishes. Adult remote criminal access does not mean juvenile cases are openly searchable. The Clerk’s public-facing product also excludes Breaux Bridge City Court, St. Martinville City Court, and Henderson Town Court matters, so even adult searches require the correct jurisdiction.
For a youth matter, contact the court through its restricted process and ask what proof of relationship or representation is required. A facility status and a court order answer different questions. The facility can address its custody, subject to confidentiality. The court can address the legal order, subject to restricted access. Neither source should be asked to disclose more than the requester is entitled to receive.
The public criminal subscription offered by the St. Martin Clerk should not be used as a workaround. Its advertised criminal files concern public access within the product’s scope, while juvenile matters follow restricted rules. An empty search may reflect the nature of the case, the wrong jurisdiction, or protected access. It should never be converted into a statement that no custody or release event occurred.
Note: Preserve confidentiality even after release; a change in custody does not convert protected juvenile information into an adult public record.
Verify St. Martin Youth Status
Reliable verification identifies the last responsible custodian, uses more than a name, and keeps the request within lawful access. For a youth, it also requires proof of the requester’s role. Record the office contacted, the date, and the exact wording of any response that can lawfully be retained. Do not broaden a narrow confirmation into a public narrative.
If staff cannot disclose the answer, ask only which official process applies. That may be the juvenile court, counsel of record, a designated case worker, or an authorized victim-services channel. The St. Martin Parish release framework keeps this youth path separate from adult, state, federal, and immigration lookups. Silence from a public search is not evidence of release. It is also not authority to seek protected information elsewhere.
